Anne Arundel County Sports HALL OF FAME HISTORY

The Anne Arundel County Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1991 for a two-fold purpose.

The Primary function of the organization is to recognize Anne Arundel resident who have excelled athletically or who have contributed greatly to the advancement of county athletics. Each year, a class of three to five individuals is selected for induction into the Anne Arundel County Sports Hall of Fame at the annual banquet in October at Michael's 8th Avenue in Glen Burnie.

To be eligible for consideration, candidates must have resided in Anne Arundel County for a period of 10 years or have maintained a close affiliation with the county while away achieving prominence in their field. The number of inductees to date is ##. Combined, they represent more than 15 different sports as well as the fields of sports journalism, sports medicine and officiating.

The Anne Arundel County Sports Hall of Fame also exists to raise money to support and promote athletics in Anne Arundel County. Money raised during the annual banquet and other events go into a fund to be donated to worthy athletic causes.
